The Caerbannog RPG System

Caerbannog is a tabletop role-playing system and fantasy world, born in 2010 out of the need to tell ambitious stories across a wide range of narrative genres. It is created by Maciej Janik and Jakub Łapot of the Tempus Game Masters Association. The system stands out for its accessible gameplay, easy improvisation and modular rules, while still offering deep options for character creation and adventure design. It is played, among other places, at the Caerbannog RPG camps.

At its core lies an easy-to-learn skill check mechanic. For game masters, it resolves all kinds of situations, blending narration with the unpredictability of the dice. For players, it opens the door to any character they can imagine - instead of ready-made solutions on a character sheet, it asks for imagination.

In Caerbannog, players can take on a wide range of heroes: warriors, scholars, merchants, diplomats, mystics - and even immortal demigods. A character's origin and the social capital built over a lifetime carry real weight in play. Player characters are people of flesh and blood, with their own stories and a place in society - not just a bunch of stats.

The world of Caerbannog takes fantasy seriously. Cultures, factions and organisations with their own agendas mix with political conflicts, social tensions and hard choices. It is a stage for court intrigue, interpersonal drama and adventures where mystical powers and beings remain a genuine mystery - not just a means to an end.

Caerbannog combines the best of what role-playing games have to offer: an intense story and the sheer fun of playing. Want to learn more? Visit caerbannog.pl
